Irishman Pub and Eatery wins 'Best Pint of Guinness' in national competition
The Irishman Pub and Eatery, at 5601 Main St. (next to Town Hall)in the Village of Williamsville, is the Buffalo area winner of the "Best Pint of Guinness " award in a national competition. The competition, sponsored by Diageo-Guinness, USA and conducted in November and December, involved rating pints of Guinness on the basis of a "Great Tasting Point Checklist" developed by Guinness, incorporating qualities such as the glassware, the look, the presentation and the all-important pour and taste. "Our bartenders and managers have done an outstanding job," said Gene O'Donovan, The Irishman proprietor and a native of Ireland. "Having lived in Dublin for many years, I really came to appreciate the importance of a 'Great Pint' and in particular how the pour and presentation makes a significant difference. I'm very pleased our customers recognize this also." "We work very closely with Guinness to ensure our people understand and appreciate the history associated with the Guinness product and brand," said General Manager, Maria MacPeek.
