Williamsville Hampton Inn wins third Lighthouse Award

Since opening in the village five years ago, the Hampton Inn at Williamsville has been rated among the best.

Judged against 1,400 Hampton properties, the facility at 5455 Main St. has placed in the top 5 percent, earning its third Lighthouse Award.

Tracy Curtin, assistant general manager, said the hotel has been eligible for the award the past four years and won it three times. The year it wasn’t a winner the Williamsville location missed the 5 percent by one point. This past year it ranked 18th of the 1,400.

“The award is based on customer satisfaction and quality assurance,” Beth A. Blumenson, director of sales, said. “It’s a good feeling to see where we stand with our guest population.”

The majority of the guests at Hampton Inn at Williamsville is corporate business, which has steadily increased since its inception.

“These are frequent travelers … and they know a Lighthouse symbol is a sign of good quality,” Curtin said.

As an award-winning hotel, the Williamsville location can promote its accomplishments when marketing the facility, which helps it stand out, Blumenson said.

In addition, the hotel has been a Circle of Excellence winner every year. The award is given to the top 10 percent of Hampton hotels. It has also been awarded a certification of excellence for the highest “can do” attitude among the staff.

Curtin also credits the staff with the hotel’s success, saying from housecleaning to the front desk, the employees are consistently excellent.

“The competition to be among the elite group of Hampton Lighthouse Award winners becomes stronger each year as the Hampton brand continues to add more hotels, making us especially proud this year to receive the honor. Our team is to be commended on their hard work and dedication,” general manager Renee Karmazyn said in March when the award was announced.

Hotels with the highest rankings in quality, guest satisfaction and business performance are recognized. The Lighthouse Award criteria are based on customer feedback measured through guest satisfaction surveys on the hotel, as well as product quality and service scores measured quarterly by the company.
